We took a little break when the pandemic hit, but we are happy to announce that we are back! The world may look different than it did four short months ago, but the need to bring bears and smiles to children is stronger than ever. Our board met this past week and we reaffirmed our commitment to growing Ari’s Bears, even if it means that we need to get a little creative with our operations.
Note: the site says that masks are available for one more day, but there is no deadline for you to make your purchase. Once Bonfire’s “deadline” passes, the web store will automatically relaunch with the next purchase. This allows for quicker shipping.
Our first annual Gold Run 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run will now be FREE and VIRTUAL (September 13, 2020)!
September is childhood cancer awareness month, so what better way to honor the month than to have a 5K Gold Run to raise money for pediatric cancer research!
With all the uncertainty still to come, we decided to convert to a virtual race. We did not want to cancel completely because our cause is so important: to raise money for pediatric cancer research and spread awareness for childhood cancer. And now people all over the country can join us! So grab your gold and run with us at a location and time of your choosing to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research. This is a virtual event with no registration fee, but donations are welcome. All net profits from the race will go directly to a doctor or hospital conducting research for a cure or less toxic treatments for childhood cancer. Use this link to sign up today, or visit https://runsignup.com/Race/MD/AnyCity/ArisBearsGoldRun
Once you have registered for our virtual run, please be sure to join the Ari’s Bears Virtual Gold Run group on Facebook, where there will be opportunities for prizes and interaction. You must first register for the 5K and answer some questions before you will be approved into this group.
Sip and Paint DATE CHANGE: Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Painting with a Twist in Lutherville, MD
This event has been moved to Saturday October 3 from 4:30pm – 7:30pm. We plan to hold the event with health and safety protocols and procedures in place, only if it’s safe to do so. If you already registered and the date still works for you, there’s nothing you need to do, except update your calendar! If you find that you cannot attend the new date, you will be able to contact the paint studio to cancel once they reopen. We appreciate your flexibility!
🧸 Youth Board: Painting Kindness Rocks (Date TBD)
The Youth Board cancelled its Kindness Rock Painting Event in March, and will look at new and creative ways to make this event happen (safely, and possibly virtually!). Stay tuned for details!
We appreciate Franklin Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society and Franklin High School’s National Junior Honor Society, who partnered to build and donate 39 bears in March.
As part of her bat mitzvah project, Addy Van Camp designed and sold laptop/water bottle stickers to raise money for Ari’s Bears. After the sale ended, she donated the extra stickers to our organization so that we can continue to sell them or use them as prizes and giveaways for upcoming events. Thank you, Addy!
Baylee Glick planned a “mitzvah with a purpose” to support Ari’s Bears. While the event didn’t happen as planned, we are grateful for the generous donation that she made of 50 bear-sized t-shirts with the Ari’s Bears logo. Mazel tov, Baylee!
